In continuation of the ongoing probe into crude oil theft in the Niger Delta, the Senate Adhoc Committee on Crude Oil Theft today visited the offshore production platform of Oriental Energy Resources, operators of OML 67 and OML 115.
The Adhoc Committee chaired by Senator Albert Bassey Akpan visited the Ebok oil field in the company of officials of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, UPRC and some journalists.
The Ebok field in OML 67 is situated approximately 55 kilometers from Akwa Ibom shore.
Speaking to journalists upon return to Port Harcourt, the Chairman, Senate Adhoc Committee on Crude Oil Theft, Senator Albert Bassey Akpan, said the experience was a cheering one compared to the previous day where most platforms visited reported zero production in months.
Senator Bassey Akpan who is also the Chairman Senate Committee on Petroleum Upstream commended Oriental Energy Resources for adhering strictly to industry regulations and reporting no shortfall in oil production.
He said the experience indicates that all hope is not lost in Nigeria’s Oil and Gas sector.
