In the light of his recognition by the Akwa Ibom State College of Education (COE), Afaha Nsit, as a philanthropist and one having the quest to empower others educationally, a recipient of the Obong Bassey Albert (OBA) scholarship scheme, John Mfon John, has congratulated Senator Albert on his feat.
John, a 2016 beneficiary of the Senator OBA scholarship scheme relayed his congratulatory message to Senator Albert on the official page of the 2016 scholars on Tuesday, July 16, while describing the award as well deserved.
John recalled that “the Senator in 2016 awarded scholarship to 81 students in various institutions and Local Governments”, and “later made provision for additional 49 students totaling 140 students” that year.
“Not only did he award scholarship, he also ensured prompt payment of the scholarship and stipend every semester”.
He expressed delight at his emergence as one of the beneficiaries of the scheme, adding that the Senator’s magnanimity towards the youths was one of the reasons he was re-elected for a second tenure.
“I am amongst other scholars, a proud beneficiary of this scholarship scheme till date. It was because of these strides and many more that he was elected to represent the people at the red chambers for a second term”.
John who is the current Director of Information of the University of Uyo’s Students’ Union Government (SUG), again recalled that the Senator, after his re-election conducted another scholarship examination which birthed the addition of 191 students across the state into the second scholarship scheme, including 50 others.
“In total, my principal, Sen. Obong Bassey Albert, has over 380 students in his scholarship scheme not to mention various educational grants and projects he has embarked on in a bid to support the educational sector”, John noted.
He wished the Senator more “open doors of wisdom and success in the near future” and prayed for his elevation to greater heights.
It would be recalled that the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East, Obong Bassey Albert, was on Friday, July 12, awarded by the State College of Education during its 7th combined convocation for his strides in educational empowerment.
