Ward Congresses took place in the 11 wards of Ibiono Ibom local government area on Saturday 8th September, 2018. All the party faithful converged on their wards to elect three ad-hoc delegates that will partake in the forthcoming party primaries to elect the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senatorial and Governorship candidates of the party for the 2019 general elections.
Addressing the party faithful at the party office before departure to their respective wards, the Returning Officer for Ibiono Ibom LGA , Barr Enobong said Ibiono Ibom people are peace loving people and urged them to go about the exercise with decorum to come up with party men as delegates while assuring all that he will be fair to all. He lauded the Governor as the party leader in the State for the tremendous effort he has made to stabilize the party in the State. The Returning Officer later announced the names of the returning officers for the 11 wards of the local government area.
In his goodwill message, the party Chapter Chairman, Hon Emmanuel Etim noted that the party is a very democratic party that ensures that everyone is carried along and guarantees equal opportunities even as he urged faithful to be very involved in their wards.
The briefing by the Returning officer attracted high profiled dignitaries like Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert (OBA), Dr Iniobong Essien, Commissioner of Environment and Mineral Resources, Elder Ntienyong Inyangmme, Pioneer Secretary of PDP in Akwa Ibom, Mr Daniel Udoh (North South), Rt Hon Ekomabasi Akpan, Chairman lbiono Ibom LGA, Hon Nicholas Andy, a PDP Chieftain, Hon Imoh Inyang, a former Commissioner for Economic Development, Rt Hon Godwin Ekpenyong, a former Transition Chairman, Councillors led by the Leader of Ibiono Ibom legislative Council, Hon Enobong Ekong, Supervisors, Ward Chairmen, Party executives in the local government area, party stalwarts among other personalities from the area.
Monitoring the exercise in Ibiono Ibom Eastern ward one at Use lkot Oku, incidentally is Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert (OBA) ‘s ward the exercise was very successful as party faithful came out in their numbers to elect their ad hoc delegates.
Present were Senator Bassey Albert (OBA), representing Akwa Ibom North East (Uyo) Senatorial District, Hon Imo Inyang, former Commissioner for Economic Development, Hon Essienobong Ebiang ,Councillor representing Ward One,Barr Enobong, Returning Officer for Ibiono Ibom LGA, Mr Abasiakamauwem, ward one Chairman among other PDP faithful from the ward.
