A former House of Representatives member, Rt. Hon. Emmanel Obot has stressed the need for the Akwa Ibom North-East(Uyo) Senatorial District to have a ranking Senator in 2019.

The former lawmaker made the assertion during a consultative visit of Senator Bassey Albert’s Akwa Ubok Abasi campaign organization to Ibesikpo Asutan PDP stakeholders and statutory delegates at the Council Headquarters, Tuesday.

Obot narrated that the current political development in the state and nation has left the Senatorial District with no choice than to seek for better positioning in the scheme of things.

“It will be wrong for us to bring a beginner in 2019. I was looking for election in the other party, but i have seen his (OBA) capacity and have decided to throw my weight behind him. He is our best option at the moment”.

We must also work towards the reelection of Governor Udom Emmanuel, so Uyo Senatorial District can take its turn smoothly in 2023″, he stressed.

Earlier Senator Albert praised Ibesikpo Asutan people for standing by him and the Udom Emmanuel administration and promised to deliver more dividend of democracy if given the opportunity to serve again, while charging the party faithfuls to open theirs doors for others seeking for the same office.

“I will never disappoint Uyo Senatorial District. I will stand by my people. I know people from Ibesikpo Asutan and Uyo Federal Constituency are vying for the senate. They have a right to do so”.

“Considering the following: zoning, rotation and streamlining, I fit in perfectly well. It is your duty to examine the candidates and check grossly in terms of capacity, character, integrity, representation and empowerment. 2019 politics is about capacity”, Albert harped.

Present at the consultative visit were the Chairman of Council, Hon. Sylvester Okon, Member Representing Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko, Obong T. O. Akpan, Rt. Hon. Eduok Eduok, Hon. Ofunmbuk Ukim and a host of others.
