The Senate on Wednesday asked its committees of Finance, Banking and other Financial Institutions and Public Account to investigate the operation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) regime.
Although the Upper Chamber commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the introduction of TSA, it said its designated committees should look into the operations of the policy and report back in two weeks.
This followed the adoption of a motion entitled “Abuse and Mismanagement of the Treasury Single Account Regime” sponsored by Senator Dino Melaye and 31 others.
Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (Akwa Ibom Northeast) who supported the motion said if President Buhari failed to do something about the Twenty Five Billion naira allegedly given to a private firm under the TSA, he would personally lead a National youth protest against the government.Senator Albert Bassey to lead National youth protest against Federal Government over Mismanagement of Treasury Single Account
Senator Akpan said throughout his seven and half years as a banker and as a former commissioner for Finance, he never saw such huge sum of money handed over to a private firm for doing nothing.
He insisted that the country does not need a third party to enforce Federal Government directive on TSA.
